Behavioral Health Facilities

Construction in a treatment facility has to account for the people who live and work there. We bring construction knowledge and firsthand behavioral health experience to facility renovations and improvements across Central Texas.

Someone Lives on the Other Side of that Wall

A bathroom can be a construction site while the bedrooms beside it remain occupied. Staff still need to move through the building and carry out their work. The renovation has to be planned around the life continuing next door.

Zach’s background includes direct care and behavioral health administration, with responsibilities in risk management, patient rights, and staff safety. That experience gives Five Mile an understanding of the environment from the facility’s side of the project.

It can show up in something as small as how trim is attached or how a work area is left at the end of the day. We recognize that those decisions can have consequences for the people using the building.

What the Work Should Account For

People staying in the building.

Plan access, dust control, and the sequence of work with your team. Establish which areas need to remain usable and how construction activity will be separated from everyday operations.

Materials suited to the setting.

Consider durability, cleaning, and resident-safety requirements alongside the appearance of the finished room. How a product is installed deserves attention, too.

Years of previous repairs.

Older facilities can carry layers of flooring, repeated alterations, and repairs made at different times. We look at what needs removing or correcting before new work goes in.

The conduct of the crew.

Orderly work areas and considerate people matter to residents, staff, and visiting families. We expect our crews to respect the environment they’re working in.

Let's Talk Through the Work

A single bathroom or a sequence of facility upgrades can be a useful place to start. We’ll discuss the scope and how the construction needs to fit around your operation.
